BASKETBALL INSTRUCTORS:

Lindsay Adams: Before joining Carolina Courts, Lindsay competed in AAU basketball as well as competing at the collegiate level. She has been coaching youth sports for six years, including two years of counseling basketball and coaching camps along side WNBA hall of famer Vicky Bullett.

Justin Antonio:Justin attended the Borough of Manhattan Community College where he was a letter winner on the varsity basketball squad. He has instructed at various camps and clinics while also serving as a math tutor. Justin most recently was an assistant coach at St. Dominic’s School in Bronx, NY.

Miriam Baker: Miriam received both her Bachelor’s degree and Master’s degree in Sport Administration from Grambling State University. She was a three-year letter winner on the Tigers’ varsity squad. Miriam recently coached at Rock Hill Middle School.

Kurt Chambers: Kurt has been coaching youth basketball since 2006 for organizations such as Steele Creek Athletic Association. He has a true passion for the game of basketball and enjoys working with kids to develop proper technique, fundamentals and work ethic. Kurt is a certified Double-Goal Coach, coaching for winning and more importantly life lessons through Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA), recognized with AAU.

Anthony George: Anthony most recently worked with the National Basketball Academy (Team NBA Charlotte Bobcats) as a coach for youth camps (ages 7-14). He has also served as a student assistant with Belmont Abbey College Men’s Basketball team as well as a head coach in the prestigious New York City high school summer league (Summer Classics in Queens, NY). Anthony holds a bachelor’s degree in Sports Management.

Chris Green: Chris is a certified professional fitness trainer who has competed on many different levels of the game. He has seen action in high school, junior college, AAU, and against NBA talents. Chris is excited to join our team to help young athletes cultivate their natural ability and teach them proper game fundamentals.

Richard Hobbs: Richard has served as a basketball coach and referee for 17 years. He previously held the position of Sports Director for the Pine Street YMCA, which at the time was the largest YMCA in South Carolina. Richard is also a speaker for the North Carolina Chapter of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

Steve Jackson: While in high school, Steve was a member of the All-District squad in Las Vegas, NM. He then joined the Navy to serve our country after turning down college offers. Steve has been a lifelong basketball enthusiast that loves coaching the game and sharing his passion for the sport with young players that also enjoy the benefits that basketball offers.

Mike Jefferson: Mike has competed professionally overseas for the past three years in Geneva, Switzerland, Targu Mures, Romania, Reykjavik, Iceland, and Neuchatel, Switzerland. Most recently he has received Player of the Year, Guard of the Year and Import of the Year honors while also being selected to the First Team All-Swiss and the First Team All-Import. Prior to his professional career, Mike attended High Point University where he holds the school’s all-time assists record and finished with over 1000 points. He plans on pursuing his Masters in Coaching at the University of Northern Colorado.

Tony Johnson: Tony has over 25 years of basketball coaching experience. He has served as the head coach for Southeast HS (Springfield, Ill.) for 10 years, Lincolnland Community College (Springfield, Ill.) for nine years, and Olympic HS (Charlotte, NC) for nine years.  Tony has also spent 10 years as a camp coach at the University of Illonois. He holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Education.

Mike Laney: Mike attended North Meck High School where he helped lead his team to the State Championship his senior season. He was also named to the ALL-MECA Conference team. Mike then continued his career at Hampton University. He is now the head Junior Varsity coach at Providence High School.

Mike Murray: Mike has been involved with basketball for 13 years, including six years as a Division III head women’s basketball coach, and three years at the middle school and high school levels. While at the United States Merchant Marine Academy, he transformed a 1-25 program into a competitive 14-12 squad in one season. This is the second best turnaround in Division III history. In his five recruiting classes with Merchant Marine Academy, Mike had two Conference Rookies of the Year, two Honorable Mention All-League players, two Second Team All-League athletes, one First Team All-League selection, and one Defensive Player of the Year. Mike is currently the head coach for Cuthbertson Middle School’s boys’ basketball team.

Michael Nelson: Michael has experience as an athlete as well as an instructor. He played two years at Shepherd University in Shepherdstown, WV and has also conducted multiple workouts for kids and adults in Winston-Salem, Shepherdstown, and Charlotte.

Peter Vogt: Peter is currently an Attorney at Law. He played Division III basketball while at Dickinson College in Pennsylvania and has coached recreational and travel basketball teams for over five years. Peter has also served as an assistant coach at the middle school level for two years.

Kurt Wessler: Kurt has been a men’s high school basketball coach for over 20 years, including head coaching positions at local Vance and Butler High Schools. In his 14 seasons as a head coach, he amassed over 230 wins, including six conference tournament titles, five regular season titles, five sectional finals, three regional appearances, and one state championship (Vance, 2003). Kurt has coached six players who have played professionally, including Antawn Jamison of the Cleveland Cavaliers.
