Matt Jones is our General Manager here at Carolina Courts. Matt will oversee the day to day operations of Carolina Courts, including oversight of both our basketball and volleyball directors. Matt is a local graduate of Charlotte Christian and Appalachian State University. He has a Business Management degree from ASU and earned a full basketball scholarship on the men’s basketball team, finishing 3rd all time in steals for his career. Matt was invited to play professional basketball overseas for the Wellington Saints in New Zealand. Over the past 2 years, Matt was with 2XSalt as their Director of Basketball Operations. While at 2XSalt, Matt worked with youth from 6 years old to 18 years old on basketball skill development, running leagues, academies, camps and clinics, as well as private lessons. Matt is the son of former UNC tar heel, 1972 Olympian and NBA defensive star Bobby Jones. Matt and his wife, Ashley, reside in Charlotte. |

Becca Jones is our Assistant General Manager. She will assist in day-to-day operations as well as sponsorships and marketing. She has been involved in sport management for over seven years. While earning her bachelor’s degree in Sport Management from Guilford College, Becca served three years as a starting team captain for the varsity volleyball team. She also worked as a sports information student assistant and basketball and baseball scorekeeper for four years. She then moved on to Wingate University, where she earned her master’s degree in Sport Administration while also serving as an intern for our own Carolina Courts. Becca resides in Charlotte. |

Stephanie Schrock is our Director of Volleyball Operations. She will oversee all volleyball programs. She began her volleyball career at a young age, playing middle hitter for her Philadelphia club and her private high school. She continued playing for a D-II college outside of Philadelphia where she was a two-time conference MVP and a three-year team captain. Stephanie coached both high school and collegiate level volleyball in Pennsylvania. She also has a background as a personal trainer. Stephanie has been trained to identify athletic potential and the tools necessary to help athletes reach that potential. She resides in Charlotte with her husband, Thain, and their three children. |

David Clark is our Director of Basketball Operations. He will oversee all basketball programs, sponsorships, and basketball tournaments. A 1996 graduate of Bluefield State College, David has been involved in youth sports for over 15 years. He was a NCAA Divisions II All-American at Bluefield State as well as the NCAA Division II steals leader in 1996. He relocated to the Charlotte area from the Washington, DC Metro area. David has trained athletes who are currently playing for Division I and II NCAA basketball and football programs as well as the NBA. Since David began coaching and training kids, he has worked with coaches, scouts & AD’s who currently are in the Big East, ACC, Big 12, SEC, CAA, Conference USA, MEAC, CIAA & WVIAC. David is consistently implementing great new programs and seeking ways to enhance our basketball curriculum to meet the needs of the student athletes that participate in our programs. |

Josh Watson is our Senior Facility Manager. He is in charge of all facility issues and cleaning staff at Carolina Courts. Josh graduated from Charlotte Christian High School in 2000 where he was involved with many sports teams. He then attended Western Carolina University where he graduated in 2004 with a degree in Sport Management with a focus in Event Facility Management. After graduating, Josh worked in the commercial janitorial industry for Interstate Contract Cleaning services. Josh is also currently coaching Charlotte Christian varsity baseball team. He resides in South Charlotte. |

Shelton Collier is our volleyball mentor. Shelton will work closely with our volleyball director on our volleyball curriculum and sit on our volleyball board. Shelton is currently the Women’s Head Volleyball Coach for the Wingate Bulldogs. He has been at Wingate since 2002. Shelton has over 27 years of collegiate volleyball coaching experience. From 1980 to 1988 he coached at the University of Pittsburgh, where he had a 296-93 record and was Big East AND Northeast Regional coach of the year in 1987. In 1990, he was the head coach for the first USA Women’s Youth National Team Program. From 1991 to 2002, Coach Collier was the Women’s Head Volleyball Coach for Georgia Tech. In those 11 years, he compiled a 565-207 record, achieving the highest winning percentage (.732) in their programs history. He was named ACC Coach of the Year, Tachikara Southeast Region Coach of the Year and Georgia Collegiate Coach of the Year. Other achievement over the past six years include: 2002, 2004, 2005 Head Coach for the Junior National Team – winning a gold medal in 2004. 2003&2006 Head Coach for the USA Youth National Team. In 2006, his team participated in the World Championships in Mexico. They also won a gold medal at the NORECA Championships. Shelton and his wife Diane reside in Union County. |

Ron Esser is President and Co-founder of Carolina Courts. Ron, has been involved in youth sports for over eight years, with coaching and sports administration experience in mainly basketball and football during this time. For the past seven years, Ron has been involved as a volunteer basketball commissioner within the WCWAA. Three of those years Ron was the head basketball commissioner. In his tenure, the enrollment for basketball grew from approx. 350 to over 750 kids ranging from 6 to 15 years in age. Ron played a vital role in moving the program to a web based registration platform and creating a culture of playing for fun, learning the fundamentals and playing with class and integrity. Fun, fairness and sportsmanship were the staples of his programs. A former high school basketball player from Northern Virginia, Ron and his wife Tracey have one child, Cody, age 17. |

Scott Chitwood is Vice President and Co-founder of Carolina Courts. Scott has been involved with youth sports for over 20 years. Scott has coached basketball from the high school varsity level all the way down to instructional leagues for 5 and 6 year olds. A former division III player, Scott has an incredible amount of basketball knowledge and a true passion for the game. He implemented the current evaluation program within the WCWAA that promotes the ultimate fairness and competitiveness in our recreational leagues. Scott was the right hand person in charge, with Ron, as a member of the WCWAA over the past two years. Scott is also well connected in the community with local school coaches, sport trainers and motivational speakers. Scott and his wife Melanie have two children, Zachary and Tyler, ages 15 & 11 respectively. |
